December Meeting

Has DCFM fallen off the face of the earth, never to be heard from again? Absolutely not! We're still here and we're still having meetings! We decided that the group needed a short project that would 1) get everyone back on their feet again, and 2) be a prep project for some hopefully bigger projects down the road.

SEPTEMBER:
At this meeting we put our heads together and came up with a story idea, and wrote the rough draft of an 8 page script titled, The Studio. In the weeks following, we refined the script, solidified the cast, and finalized the technical, and edible details.

OCTOBER:
We began filming on Fri night Oct. 23. Around 2pm we took a 3-4hr break to catch a little shut eye and ended up wrapping up around 3pm Sat. afternoon. It was quite an undertaking but we all survived...and managed to have some fun in the process! Post production took place in the next few weeks.

NOVEMBER:
And then people's schedules got crazy! We ended up post-poning the meeting till Dec. 4-5th.

DECEMBER:
People's schedules were still crazy, nonetheless a handful of us got together to hold our last meeting of the year. Several of the topics we discussed were making nominations for next year's DCFM officership, how to improve communication through the blog and forums, we had a session on the "why's and how to's of editing," and also the premiere showing of the DCFM short film The Studio.

The Studio will be available for viewing online within the next couple of days, so be sure to check back soon! Also, you can join the new DCFM page on Facebook, and then be sure to check out The Studio page as well.

DCFM Meets Again! -- September Info

Dear Friends of DCFM,

The summer has now past. And, so has our hiatus. As promised, we're back!!

We still have several projects in pocket at the moment. So, we'll be performing a practicum in film production over the next quarter in order to gain the tech savvy and chemistry necessary to perform well under the pressures of production. Therefore, we'll be beginning with story ideas. Prepare to write and plan.

September's meeting will begin with a fellowship dinner around 6ish on Friday the 25th and will continue with the actual meeting the next morning, Saturday, September 26th at 9am. Mollie R and her family have opened their home to us, so we will be congregating at their house.

If you have any questions or need directions, please feel free to contact Heidi Michelle at heidimichelle [at] dallaschristianfilmmakers [dot] org. We look forward to seeing you there!!

We eat...
(We love food. There WILL be food at the meeting--Promise.)

We work...

We eat.... (did I say we eat?)

...and enjoy great fellowship...

So we eat, work, fellowship, make films...

...uhh, and if we have issues we deal with them... *cough*

...love what we do, love one another, and pray to be world-changers...

Come join us!

Too many of us are sick or have difficult scheduling issues to justify getting together this weekend, so

The February Meeting Has Been Canceled.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but this seemed the best course of action to take. But stay in touch, we'll be posting some more--including more pictures from SAICFF--and look forward to our March meeting! If you didn't know, the members are submitting scripts for our new short! So, Lord willing, we'll have a new project underway soon! :D

This Weekend

Yep! It's the third weekend of the month! DCFM is meeting for the first time in 2009! A lot is going on in the next couple of days:

We rescheduled our big bash from November to instead kick off the new year, so we'll be celebrating God's goodness to us over 2007-2008

We will officially pass the baton as we inaugurate the new Officers for 2009, and discuss what this next year will hold

And we are looking forward to a wonderful time with SAICFF award-winning filmmaker, Samuel Ramsey, as he comes to speak with us about his film, The Photographer: How the Rain Falls.

Hope you're planning to be with us! Contact the Secretary for directions.

Blessings,
DCFM

PS--stay tuned for upcoming posts on our wonderful time at SAICFF. And, in case you hadn't heard, a Texas-sized congrats goes to our very own John Moore and everyone behind the making of The Widow's Might as it won not only the Audience Choice Award, but took home the $101,000 Grand Prize!! Praise the Lord! Order your copy from HeuMoore if you haven't yet!

San Antonio or Bust!

Today marks the opening of the 2009 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival!

After a very nice Christmas break, this is an inspiring way to start off the new year! With lots of great speakers to hear, films to watch, and fellow filmmakers to meet up with, SAICFF is always one of the year's highlights.

Many are already underway with the excitement as attendees of the SAICFF Christian Filmmakers Academy. We anticipate a glowing report when we join up with them later today!

So, blessings on all you who will also be traveling! Stay tuned to Doug's Blog for updates, and we'll try to post here as well if we can. :D

See you there!
